This initiative reflects LOLC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen staff capacity and promote ethical and responsible financial practices across every one of its operations. The programme combined theoretical knowledge with practical application, enabling participants to gain a clearer understanding of the key drivers of debt stress, including economic pressures, income instability and financial mismanagement.

Particular emphasis was placed on helping staff identify early warning signs of debt stress among clients — such as irregular repayment behaviour, reduced communication and visible signs of financial hardship — so that timely and appropriate interventions can be made. Throughout the training, participants engaged in interactive learning activities, including case studies and role-playing exercises that reflected real-life client situations. These sessions provided opportunities for staff to practice assessing client circumstances, conducting empathetic and effective conversations, and identifying suitable support measures. In addition to technical competencies, the training emphasised ethical communication and client protection principles, encouraging staff to engage with clients in a respectful, empathetic and professional manner that upholds client dignity.

By equipping staff with the appropriate skills and mindset, LOLC aims to deliver financial services that support long-term institutional sustainability while ensuring positive and responsible outcomes for its clients. This initiative reaffirms LOLC Cambodia’s continued commitment to strengthening internal capacity and delivering responsible financial services. Through ongoing investment in staff development and professional practice, LOLC reinforces its mission to operate sustainably and to foster positive, long-term relationships with the communities it serves.
