Responsible Financing Helps Local Entrepreneur Overcome Capital Barriers

This is the story of Mrs. Song Srey On, who used a loan from LOLC Cambodia to expand her laundry business, in Phnom Penh’s Trapeang Areaks village, Ovlaok commune, Kamboul district.

With the determination to improve her family’s living conditions and to build a better future for their young son, she and her husband have worked hard together to earn an income, regardless of the difficulties and exhaustion.

After operating her laundry business for the past three years, Mrs. Srey On wished to expand her business so that she could serve more customers. However, the lack of capital became a major obstacle, preventing her from achieving these goals, as she did not have sufficient funds to purchase additional equipment and necessary materials for the business.

Confident in the potential of her business, Mrs. Srey On decided to choose LOLC Cambodia as her financial partner. In 2023, she applied for her first loan of $2,000 to renovate and expand her business premises. Then, in 2024, she applied for an additional loan of $5,000 to further expand and strengthen her business operations.

The use of the loans made a significant contribution to more effective financial management and clearly improved both her business and her family’s living conditions. These achievements have given her hope to create additional sources of income in the future and to provide a better education for her son with confidence.

Mrs. Srey On noted that LOLC Cambodia’s financial services will remain her first choice to support the continued growth of her business and the improvement of her family’s quality of life in the future.

Her story highlights how access to responsible financial services can empower hardworking families, stimulate local entrepreneurship and contribute to sustainable community development across Cambodia.
