Mr. Sok Voeun joined and Delivered Closing Remarks at the Training Workshop on “Enhancing Climate Capacity for Financial Institutions: From Policy Development to Self-Assessment with a Focus on Dimension 7 of the Universal Standards for Social and Environmental Performance Management (USSEPM)”

Phnom Penh, 28 January 2026: Mr. Sok Voeun, Chief Executive Officer of LOLC (Cambodia) Plc. and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cambodia Microfinance Association (CMA), joined and delivered the closing remarks at the training workshop on “Enhancing Climate Capacity for Financial Institutions: From Policy Development to Self-Assessment with a Focus on Dimension 7 of the Universal Standards for Social and Environmental Performance Management (USSEPM).” The workshop was held at Capri Hotel, Phnom Penh.


The training was organized by the Cambodia Microfinance Association (CMA) with support from the Embassy of Ireland through Oxfam. It aimed to provide technical assistance to member institutions participating in the project to develop internal policies and procedures that strengthen Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices, while also enhancing their readiness to mobilize additional funding from investors.


In his closing remarks, Mr. Sok Voeun, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of CMA, expressed his sincere appreciation to Oxfam, a key strategic partner, for its invaluable support in organizing this meaningful training program for CMA members. He also extended his gratitude to Mrs. Chea Vuthy, the lead facilitator, for sharing her expertise and practical experience on how institutions can develop relevant policies and tools for pilot self-assessment, as well as review and strengthen the implementation of their ESG practices.



The workshop brought together 25 representatives from 24 financial institutions and forms part of the “Climate Resilience for All” (CREFA) project. The initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of financial institutions to contribute to climate change mitigation, adaptation, and sustainable development.
