LOLC Cambodia strengthens its employees’ capacity and awareness regarding protected natural areas to provide responsible lending services in line with environmental and social protection principles

Mondulkiri Province – LOLC Cambodia organized a two-day training program on “Protected Areas and the Use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for Identifying Protected Areas” from May 4–5, 2026, in Mondulkiri Province. The training aimed to strengthen employees’ understanding of protected areas and to avoid providing loans that may negatively impact such areas, while ensuring compliance with environmental and social protection principles.

The training was provided to relevant employees of LOLC Cambodia in Mondulkiri Province and Ratanakiri Province and was facilitated by experts from Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS). Through both classroom learning and on-site practical exercises, employees gained hands-on experience in using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and protected area maps through digital applications. These tools help employees accurately identify locations based on GPS data without requiring internet access.

This initiative demonstrates LOLC Cambodia’s commitment to providing sustainable financial services and enhancing employees’ capabilities in responsible lending practices in accordance with environmental and social protection principles. LOLC Cambodia remains committed to contributing to social development as well as environmental protection.
