LOLC Cambodia Continues to Strengthen Financial Inclusion in Rural Communities

With a bright smile and a warm, friendly demeanour, Mrs. Chan Thavy shared her journey of using financial services with LOLC Cambodia, highlighting how access to responsible financing can support business growth and improve livelihoods.

Mrs. Chan Thavy is a food vendor based in Trapeang Kret village, Chrung Popel commune, Romduol district, Svay Rieng province. She first learned about LOLC Cambodia in 2019 through her relatives. After gaining a clear understanding of the loan terms and conditions, she decided to take out her first loan. Since then, she has continued to rely on LOLC Cambodia’s financial services to support the growth of her business.

Over the years, Mrs. Thavy has utilised a total of four loan cycles to gradually expand her food business. Her first loan, obtained in 2019, amounted to $1,500, followed by $2,500 in 2022. As her business continued to grow, she accessed a third loan of $7,000 in 2024 and a fourth of $8,000 in 2025. Each stage of financing enabled her to strengthen and expand her operations in a sustainable manner.

Mrs. Thavy shared that LOLC Cambodia’s services have been reliable and supportive throughout her journey. The loan application process is clear and efficient, while staff members provide helpful guidance, allowing her to make informed financial decisions with confidence. This consistent support has played an important role in her ability to manage and utilise the loans effectively.

Through her dedication and careful financial management, her business has grown steadily and gained the trust of many customers. This progress has contributed to a significant improvement in her living conditions, reflecting the positive impact that responsible access to finance can bring to small business owners.

As a result, her family’s livelihood has become more stable and comfortable. She has been able to upgrade her home from a small wooden house to a larger, more comfortable concrete house. In addition, she has also purchased a car for family use.
