Supporting Farmers, Empowering Families: Maen Saroeun’s Journey with LOLC Cambodia

For approximately six years, Mrs. Maen Saroeun has been engaged in cultivating cashew nuts and cassava in Tang Kouk district, Kampong Thom province. These two agricultural activities have served as her family’s primary source of income. To continuously expand and develop her farming business, Mrs. Saroeun and her husband sought financial support from a trusted financial partner and chose LOLC Cambodia.

In 2018, Mrs. Saroeun obtained her first loan to purchase additional cashew seedlings with the aim of expanding her plantation. After fully repaying the loan, in 2019, supported by her strong credit history and understanding of responsible loan utilisation, she obtained another loan to purchase additional farmland and rice fields. This enabled her to expand the cultivation area for cashew nuts and cassava, helping to increase agricultural production and improve her household income.

Following the successful use of these two loans, in 2021, Mrs. Saroeun obtained another loan to purchase additional cashew farmland, as well as agricultural equipment and supplies to maintain and enhance the quality of her crops. Subsequently, in 2024, she continued to access financing to purchase agricultural fertiliser and acquire additional farmland, allowing her to further expand her farming operations.

Mrs. Maen Saroeun shared that the loans from LOLC Cambodia have made a significant positive impact on her family’s livelihood by enabling her to expand her farming business, increase agricultural productivity, and generate a more stable and satisfying income. Through using the loans for their intended purposes and practicing responsible financial management, she has successfully developed her agricultural business and further improved her family’s standard of living.
