Hard Work and Opportunity: Ms. Svay Samnang’s Journey to Business Growth with LOLC Cambodia
“Luck does not simply happen on its own; it comes from our hard work.” This is the perspective that Ms. Svay Samnang has demonstrated through her life journey and perseverance in building her business.
Ms. Samnang runs a small grocery store in Samnang Preah Srei village, Boeung Pram commune, Bavel district, Battambang province. She shared how she started her grocery business from a small, rented stall. The space was narrow, making it difficult to organise the store and allowing her to stock only a limited number of products. At the same time, her home was not yet comfortable enough, and it was often affected by flooding during the rainy season.
These circumstances became daily challenges for Ms. Samnang and her family, but they never give up. Instead, these difficulties motivated her to seek new opportunities to improve her business and family’s living conditions.
After learning about LOLC Cambodia through nearby storekeepers and gaining a better understanding of how financing could support her needs, Ms. Samnang decided to apply for a financing. To date, she has successfully received three loan cycles from LOLC Cambodia, each contributing to an important step in her journey.
With her first loan, she improved her grocery store and increased her inventory, allowing her to offer more kinds of products to her customers. The second loan was used to purchase a plot of land near the market, where she planned to build a home and relocate her business to a more central and convenient location for her customers. Her current loan is being used to renovate her home, expand her grocery store, and increase her inventory to meet the needs of her customers.
Notably, Ms. Samnang’s effective use of financing has brought positive results and contributed significantly to the growth of her business.
Starting from a small business and limited rented space, Ms. Samnang has gradually expanded her business size, inventory and premises. At the same time, she has been able to build a better home and create a more comfortable and convenient environment for both her family and customers.
Through her hard work, careful use of loan for its intended purposes, managing her expenses effectivel, and setting aside part of her income as savings, these small steps are leading Ms. Samnang to a better future.
