Financial Planning Opens New Opportunities for a Growing Family Business

Every early morning, Mrs. Phorn Sreymom and her husband wake up before dawn to prepare and transport vegetables for sale at Phu Puy Market in Battambang province. Mrs. Phorn Sreymom has been a vegetable vendor for more than 10 years. To expand her business and increase her family’s income, she shifted from purchasing vegetables from middlemen for resale to growing and supplying vegetables directly to the market herself.

In 2021, Mrs. Sreymom applied for and received her first loan from LOLC Cambodia to purchase agricultural land for cucumber cultivation in response to market demand at the time. This investment helped increase her income by enabling her to supply vegetables directly, reduce dependence on suppliers and improve the overall efficiency of her business.

Subsequently, in 2023, she received her second loan to purchase a vehicle for transporting and supplying vegetables, which improved transportation efficiency and supported further business expansion.

Based on the stability of her business and her family’s long-term plans, in 2026, Mrs. Sreymom received her third loan to purchase residential land for the future construction of a house. The use of all three loans contributed to asset building through the acquisition of agricultural and residential land, while strengthening the financial stability of her and her family. The responsible use of loans, supported by clear planning and appropriate purposes, has enabled Mrs. Phorn Sreymom and her husband to continuously expand their business and improve their family’s stability. Her success story highlights the importance of responsible financial planning and the role of LOLC Cambodia in supporting the sustainable growth and development of its clients.
