Kampong Chhnang Province, Tuesday, 24 November 2025: Mr. Sok Veun, Chief Executive Officer of LOLC (Cambodia) Plc., participated alongside the National Bank of Cambodia in Riel, Bakong and KHQR Workshop held in the conference hall of the Kampong Chhnang Province.

This workshop was attended by His Excellency Yim Leat, Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, and Her Excellency Bun Sophy, Deputy Governor of Kampong Chhnang Province and attended by the public and many students.

This workshop was organized with the aim of promoting the use of Riel, sharing knowledge related to the 45-year history of the National Bank of Cambodia, the evolution of the Riel, and the key roles of the national currency. It also sought to further enhance public understanding of financial literacy and the Bakong system.

In addition, members of the public were able to exchange old, worn, or damaged Riel currency for new ones free of charge. Furthermore, the workshop also featured a presentation competition on “The Use of Riel,” which provided an opportunity for students to showcase their abilities. LOLC is truly proud to witness Cambodian youth demonstrating broad financial knowledge, an essential factor in driving the nation’s economic growth in the future.

It is noting that LOLC is a microfinance institution that consistently supports and promotes the use of national currency. This commitment is reflected through offering high interest rates on savings products in Riel currency, continuing to provide loans to customers with reasonable and competitive interest rates, and enhancing access to financial services that ensure strong growth. This includes encouraging the use of digital payment systems such as Bakong and KHQR in Riel.

Through this workshop, LOLC firmly hopes that the citizens and students of Kampong Chhnang Province will gain a deeper understanding of the importance of the Riel currency and actively participate in using the national currency, thereby contributing to Cambodia’s economic development.
