A recent Client Self-Perception Survey conducted in June 2025 reveals that LOLC Cambodia continues to make a significant difference in the lives of its clients. The study, carried out in partnership with Oikocredit, engaged 755 respondents across nine branches and explored both financial and non-financial changes over the past year.
The findings show that 96% of participants believe LOLC has improved their overall wellbeing, underscoring the institution’s commitment to supporting communities across Cambodia. The survey, supported by Oikocredit, a global cooperative and social impact investor, reflects the experiences of clients from branches in the Coastal, Plain, Tonle Sap, Plateau, and Mountain regions. Notably, 66% of respondents were women. Beyond financial progress, many reported feelings more empowered, particularly in household decision-making, which they attributed to LOLC’s influence.
Key insights highlight diverse benefits for LOLC clients:
Income Growth and Financial Stability: 61% of respondents reported an increase in income during the past year, with 74% linking this improvement to LOLC’s financial services. Furthermore, 98% of respondents indicated that their income was enough to cover their basic needs. Additionally, 53% had savings, and 73% noted enhanced financial security, emphasizing the role of savings in long-term stability.
Entrepreneurial Advancement: Among surveyed clients, 89% were entrepreneurs. Of these, 57% invested in new equipment or machinery for their business, 45% expanded their businesses by introducing new products or services, while 18% achieved higher sales within 12 months.
Better Living Standards: Besides, 41% of respondents repaired or improved their homes (roof, wall, floor). Moreover, 98% of the respondents reported good access to water for both drinking and productive purposes using sources such as open wells, tap water, pump water and rivers, suggesting a ripple effect on overall quality of life. Moreover, all respondents reported eating regularly, and 66% confirmed they were consuming nutritious meals, indicating improved food security over the year. Furthermore, 55% reported improved ability to cope with health needs and emergencies.
Education: Among the respondents with children of education age, 100% responded that their children were attending school regularly over the past 12 months.
