A Strong Testament to How LOLC Cambodia’s Financial Solutions Empowers Local Farmers

Financial support from LOLC Cambodia has played a vital role in improving the quality of life of Mrs. Phann Tina, a 38-year-old farmer residing in Chheu Teal Phluoh village, Svay Ampear commune, Mukh Kampul district, Kandal province. Through access to tailored financial services, she has been able to expand her agricultural activities and build a more stable and sustainable livelihood for her family.

Mrs. Phann Tina cultivates a wide range of crops, including bottle gourd, cucumber, luffa gourd and lotus. Her farming journey with LOLC Cambodia began in 2021, when she received her first loan of $15,000. This initial financial support enabled her to strengthen her farming operations and improve her home, making it safer and more comfortable for her family.

Building on her success, she applied for a second loan in 2023 amounting to $20,000. With this funding, she purchased two cows for meat production and a tricycle to generate additional income, further diversifying her household earnings.

Driven by her commitment to growth, Mrs. Tina continued to access financial support through subsequent loan cycles. Her third, fourth, and fifth loan amounting to $2,000, $2,050, and $3,000 respectively were invested in essential farming equipment, including a power tiller, a vegetable transport trailer and three water pumps, as well as seeds and agricultural fertilizers. These investments significantly enhanced her productivity and efficiency.

As a result of this continued support, Mrs. Tina has achieved higher agricultural yields and improved financial stability. Her increased income has enabled her to purchase a motorcycle for her children’s school transportation and to set aside savings for emergencies, an important step toward long-term financial security.

Notably, Mrs. Tina has consistently repaid her loans on time, demonstrating strong financial discipline and a deep sense of responsibility. Her journey reflects the positive impact that access to responsible financial services can have on rural livelihoods.
