As a family filled with hope, big dreams for a better life, and strong determination, Mrs. Thery Chompa and her husband, Mr. Ream Khan, have successfully expanded their business and livelihood, achieving impressive progress and growth. Mrs. Chompa runs a business selling herbicides and beverages, while her husband, Mr. Ream Khan, works as a rice and cassava farmer in Thmar Puok District, Banteay Meanchey Province.
Starting from a small business with limited stock, Mrs. Chompa recognized the potential in retail store and decided to expand her business with financial support from LOLC Cambodia in 2023. She applied for a loan of USD 7,000 to increase her inventory to better meet customer demand and to purchase additional cassava farmland for her husband’s farming activities. Later, in 2024, Mrs. Chompa and Mr. Khan took a second loan of USD 5,000 as additional capital to further expand their business and buy more cassava farmland.
Through their hard work and smart, efficient use of the loan, Mrs. Chompa’s business has become more successful, while Mr. Khan’s farming activities have also produced a satisfying level of output. Mrs. Chompa explained that using the loan from LOLC Cambodia provided their family with sufficient capital to develop both their business and their livelihood. They were able to purchase additional goods for sale and expand their farmland even further.
As a result of this progress, the family’s income has increased significantly, giving them enough working capital for both the business and farming activities. This also enabled them to make regular and timely repayments to LOLC Cambodia, while improving their overall household well-being.
